The governor’s car reportedly collided with a boda boda rider on a busy road, but fortunately, no lives were lost in this morning’s incident. However, one of the passengers had to be taken to Longisa Referral Hospital for medical treatment. Witnesses claim that the injured passenger is a bursar at a local school in Bomet County, shedding light on the identity of the individual involved.
According to the police, the boda boda rider fled the scene after the accident, leaving the passenger in a critical condition. Thankfully, at the time of writing this article, the passenger’s condition has stabilized, and doctors at Longisa hospital are closely monitoring their health. The governor, on the other hand, managed to escape unharmed and was swiftly escorted away from the scene shortly after the incident occurred.
Joy Terer, the Governor’s Press Director, confirmed the incident to journalists, explaining that the governor had prior commitments and had already scheduled other official activities for the day. She reassured everyone that the governor was safe and had been engaged in various functions, including a meeting with bank managers. The Bomet Central Police Boss, Musa Imamai, also confirmed the incident, stating that it happened when the boda boda rider made an unexpected U-turn and was subsequently hit by the governor’s vehicle. Interestingly, this accident coincides with the government’s recent efforts to enforce traffic laws and reduce the alarming rate of road accidents caused by reckless driving. Transport Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen has urged the Judiciary to collaborate with other government bodies in implementing stricter measures against such motorists.
