In a recent development, a Kibera court has granted permission for the police to detain DJ Joe Mfalme and six others for further investigation into the alleged assault on police officer Felix Kelian in Kabete. Magistrate Margret Murage made the decision to detain the suspects for a period of 14 days, a shorter duration than the 21 days initially requested by the DCI.
The suspects, including DJ Joe Mfalme, will be held at various police stations during this period. DJ Joe will be detained at Muthangari police station alongside Eric Gathua and Simon Wanjiru. Allan Ochieng has been send to Kabete police station, while Khadija Abdi Wako, Sammy Rotich, and Agnes Mogoi will be detained at Riruta station. The court has scheduled a mention of the case for April 8 to review the progress of the investigation.
This decision comes after a miscellaneous application was presented at Kibera Law Courts, seeking the detention of the suspects for 21 days. However, the court deemed 14 days to be sufficient for the ongoing investigations. The case has garnered significant attention, especially with the involvement of DJ Joe Mfalme and the serious nature of the allegations. As the investigation unfolds, more details are expected to emerge regarding the incident involving the assault on the police officer.
