Emmanuel Kombe Nzai has been appointed as the new Chairperson of the Kenya Vision 2030 Delivery Board by President William Ruto. This decision is seen as a bold move to revitalize the national development blueprint, which has been facing challenges in recent years. Nzai’s appointment, which will be effective from July 5, marks the end of Caroline Kariuki’s tenure, who has been serving in this role since July 2022.
Nzai is a well-respected Public Policy expert and has previously held the position of CEO at Jumuiya ya Kaunti za Pwani (JKP). His expertise in economic development and his track record in coordinating economic cooperation among Kenya’s coastal counties make him a suitable candidate for this important role. His previous experience as the Deputy Presidential candidate for the Thirdway Alliance in 2017 and as CEO of Linkagepoint LLC in Washington DC further demonstrates his leadership capabilities.
The Kenya Vision 2030 Delivery Board has been facing challenges in keeping up with the ambitious targets set by the national development blueprint. With only six years left until 2030, an audit has revealed that Kenya is significantly behind schedule in achieving the goals outlined in Vision 2030. The shift in focus to the Big Four agenda by the Jubilee administration has also impacted the country’s developmental goals, leading to a slower than expected real GDP growth. Despite these challenges, Nzai’s appointment is expected to bring new energy and direction to the board, as efforts continue to get the Vision 2030 back on track.
