The National Youth Service (NYS) has officially announced a nationwide recruitment drive for both male and female volunteers, scheduled to take place from February 5 to February 9, 2024. The recruitment initiative, shared across NYS’s social media platforms, emphasizes inclusivity by encouraging individuals with diverse backgrounds to participate.
Notably, orphans meeting the qualification requirements are eligible for special consideration, provided they furnish adequate documentary evidence, such as parents’ death certificates or burial permits.
Persons with disabilities are actively encouraged to participate in the recruitment exercise, with NYS specifying that they should present themselves at the designated sub-counties and centers, ensuring they can endure the physically demanding training.
The Kenya National Youth Service has affirmed that the recruitment process will encompass the entire country, underscoring the national scale of this initiative.
To be eligible for consideration, potential applicants must meet specific criteria outlined by NYS. This includes being a Kenyan citizen and a resident of the relevant sub-county, falling within the age range of 18 to 24, and holding a mean KCSE grade of D plain or above.
During the recruitment drive, applicants are required to present their original National Identity Card, along with photocopies and all academic credentials. A certificate of good conduct is mandatory, and candidates must express willingness to undergo medical examinations both during and after the recruitment process.
In addition to meeting these criteria, volunteers must be prepared for physically demanding training and be open to providing voluntary assistance across any region of the Republic.
While promoting transparency and fairness, NYS sternly warns against canvassing, fraud, or any corrupt activities. The management emphasizes that engagement in such activities will lead to immediate disqualification and may result in legal action
