During the court proceedings, the prosecutor informed the court that they did not object to the complainants’ application to withdraw the case. As a result, the case was marked as closed by Senior Principal Magistrate Peter Ooko.

The charges in that case related to the misappropriation of funds amounting to Sh357 million. Sonko’s acquittal in both cases is a significant development for the former governor, as it clears his name from these legal troubles.

In the assault and forcible entry case, Sonko was initially brought before the court in 2021. He faced one charge of forcible entry and nine counts of assault causing bodily harm. The specific incident was alleged to have taken place on May 25, 2019, in Buruburu Phase Four, Kamukunji. Sonko and others were accused of forcibly and violently entering land number LR Nairobi block 78/8, which belonged to Landmark International Properties.
