In a significant breakthrough, the police in Eldoret have successfully apprehended three individuals involved in a series of armed robberies that have plagued the town. The authorities were able to recover a loaded gun and a motorcycle that were used by the suspects during their criminal activities. It was discovered that the suspects had been operating from a rented house in Baharini area, which served as their base of operations.
According to Uasin Gishu county police commander Benjamin Mwanthi, the suspects had been causing fear and distress among the residents, particularly in the Elgon View estate and other nearby areas. In addition to the firearm and motorcycle, the police also managed to seize over 40 mobile phones that are believed to have been stolen from unsuspecting victims. Interestingly, one of the suspects is the owner of a mobile phone repair shop in the town, where the stolen phones were allegedly being flashed and sold.
Mwanthi and county DCI boss Daniel Muleli urged any residents who may have lost their phones to come forward and identify them at the Eldoret central police station. It was revealed that two of the suspects were originally from Nairobi but had been residing in the rented house in Eldoret since March. The identification of the suspects was made possible through the use of surveillance cameras that had been installed in various locations throughout the town. This successful operation serves as a testament to the dedication and hard work of the police force in ensuring the safety and security of the community.
