Tragedy struck in Nyahururu town, located in Laikipia county, when a horrifying incident unfolded, resulting in the untimely death of a woman and the hospitalization of two others. The victim, identified as Beatrice Nyandigo, a 52-year-old woman, tragically lost her life due to the infliction of stab wounds by her 45-year-old boyfriend, with whom she shared a residence in the KCC quarters.
Alongside Beatrice, her brave 10-year-old grandson, Bradon Osomo, also suffered injuries during the altercation and was admitted to Nyahururu County hospital in a serious condition. The young boy displayed multiple stab wounds on various parts of his body, including his face, chest, arms, legs, and abdomen, a testament to his courageous attempt to shield his grandmother from the assailant’s violent attack.
The assailant, identified as John Mule Mungai, attempted to flee the scene but was swiftly pursued by bodaboda motorcycle riders. Eventually, he sought refuge at the Nyahururu police station. However, upon his arrival, John collapsed, revealing injuries on his chest. He was promptly transported to the County hospital, where he remains under police supervision while receiving necessary medical treatment. The police, in their investigation, discovered a kitchen knife believed to be the murder weapon, providing further substantiation to the evidence in the case. In a final act of respect for the deceased, Beatrice’s body was taken to the Nyahururu County hospital mortuary. This tragic incident serves as a somber reminder of the perils that can arise within domestic disputes and emphasizes the crucial importance of seeking help and intervention when faced with such circumstances.
